Governor Dayton signed a proclamation declaring February 2016 as Career and Technical Education Month in Minnesota. We want to take a moment to recognize the career and technical education educators at our MnSCU campuses and across the entire state of Minnesota, including our secondary educators. As MnSCU looks ahead, we know how critical it is to develop relationships between high schools and colleges to better serve students. In Minnesota, we are already doing that!
Did you know there are currently 26 consortia across Minnesota comprised of Minnesota state community and technical colleges and high school districts? These are partnerships that work together to ensure students are prepared to enter our colleges and universities and beyond. Many of these regional partnerships include connections with local businesses and community organizations. Our CTE consortia map outlines the unique partnership between our state colleges and high school districts.
Join us this month to celebrate Career and Technical Education. Below are some ways you can celebrate:
- Send a thank you note to a teacher or faculty.
- Take 15 minutes to learn something about career and technical education you never knew about.
- Send a Career and Technical Education student organization a note of inspiration.
