SUMMARY:Teaching and Learning Competency: Two Weekend Hybrid (Fall 2026)
DESCRIPTION:September 26-27 and October 24-25\, 2026\nIn-Person: Note\, you must attend both weekends in the same semester\nLocation: South Metro\, MN\nThis two weekend hybrid course fulfills\, in part\, the Teaching and Learning Competency requirements. The requirements apply to Minnesota State college faculty completing the System Procedure 3.32.1\, Part 8. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach hybrid intensive is 2 weekends\, with about a month in between each weekend. \n\n\nThe weekends are in-person Saturday and Sunday (8 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days)\, plus online learning. \n\n\nTake the hybrid to complete 6 courses (Competencies 1\, 2\, and 3). \n\nPhilosophy of Community and Technical Education is only offered online asynchronously (Competency 4).\n\nFree! DESCRIPTION:October 5 – 25\, 2026\n\nShort Course\n\nDescription \nOur chancellor has given us the challenge of eliminating our equity gaps by 2030. How can we\, as instructors\, shift our teaching practices to meet this goal? One promising path is to ground those practices in Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP). In this introductory course\, we’ll have the opportunity to examine how well our current practices align with the central tenets of CRP. CRP advocates that good teaching draws on the knowledge and skill our students bring to the classroom\, creates supportive relationships that allow students to take learning risks\, and prepares students to challenge barriers to their full flourishing. In this course we will increase our knowledge of some foundational CRP practices. \nTraining expectations are weekly short readings and weekly contributions to asynchronous discussions focused on how we might incorporate CRP into our teaching practices.
