SUMMARY:Digging into Wise Feedback (Summer 2025)
DESCRIPTION:We know that we assess because we want to see what students are learning. Feedback on those assessments plays a critical role in learning. It can be an opportunity to reinforce ideas in the course content and assure students know they can meet expectations. Indicating whether something is correct or incorrect is only a start: what other elements can we include in our feedback to encourage students and lead them to competence with the content? Let’s talk about strategies for giving wise feedback that are beneficial and mindful of workload concerns. \nAccommodations\nThe NED is committed to providing universal access to all of our events\, we’d like to discover how we can make the event more inclusive so you can fully participate! \nMachine generated captions are available in real-time for all Zoom events\, however human generated CART (live caption) service and ASL interpretation can be requested with advanced notice (2 weeks) to make the event more accessible. \nPlease\, let us know of any disability-related accommodations that will facilitate your full participation. \n Request Accommodations\nQuestions?\nContact the Network for Educational Development. \nRegistration Required\nUse the RSVP tool below to register. SUMMARY:Enhancing Student Learning Outcomes Through Feedback
DESCRIPTION:As faculty\, our role extends beyond delivering course content—we are also essential in helping students consolidate knowledge into long-term memory. However\, without effective feedback\, students’ metacognitive awareness may remain inaccurate\, leading to overconfidence and a disconnect between perceived and actual learning (Agarwal & Bain\, 2019). This webinar will introduce two evidence-based forms of feedback—elaborative feedback and correct answer feedback—that have been shown to enhance student learning. Participants will also gain practical strategies to incorporate additional feedback into their teaching practices\, ultimately fostering deeper learning and student success. \n Request Accommodations\nQuestions?\nContact facilitator Ann Lichliter. \nRegistration Required\nUse the RSVP tool below to register. In addition to Minnesota State faculty and staff\, Concurrent Enrollment instructors are also welcome to join. \nAfter registering\, a calendar invite with details on how to join will be sent to you\, please add this event to your calendar.
