SUMMARY:Classroom Strategies for Military Connected Students (Spring 2025)
DESCRIPTION:Military connected students bring diverse backgrounds and unique strengths to our campuses. This workshop offers an overview of military culture and our military connected student population. Share and learn practical strategies to support military connected students in the classroom and beyond! Together we can continue to strengthen efforts to cultivate supportive environments that recognize and leverage the valuable skills and experiences of military connected students. \nPresenter(s):\n\nChristopher Johnson – Director of Credit for Prior Learning\, Minnesota State Community and Technical College\nMiki Huntington – Faculty\, Minneapolis College\n\nLearning Outcomes:\nBy the end of this session\, attendees will be able to: \n\nUnderstand key characteristics and experiences of veteran and military connected students in higher education.\nApply practical strategies to support the success of veteran and military connected students in the classroom.\nIdentify campus and community resources available to assist veteran and military-connected students.\n\n\n\nSupporting our Military Connected Students\nThis is part of the series “Supporting our Military Connected Students.” \nRegister for each session separately. \n\nCampus Climate for Veteran Students: February 7 – Learn more and register.\nExploring Credit for Prior Learning and Veteran Students: February 27 – Learn more and register.\nClassroom Strategies for Veterans in the Classroom: March 3 – Register below.\nExamining Military Service From the Margins: April – More information coming soon.\n\n\nRSVP Required\nUse the RSVP tool below to register.
