SUMMARY:College Algebra Corequisite Learning Community (Spring 2025)
DESCRIPTION:Faculty Learning Community\nFebruary 10 – April 27\, 2025\nRegistration Closes December 10\nNED + Math Pathways\nThe NED has partnered with Math Pathways staff to offer educational development opportunities tailored to support Minnesota State mathematics and statistics faculty. View the flyer. \n\nDescription\nThis faculty learning community will be a collaboration space for faculty to identify and share resources\, discuss pedagogy and course practices\, and design college-level and corequisite support activities for College Algebra. \nParticipants should expect to join synchronous monthly Zoom meetings held from 3-4 p.m. on the following dates: \n\nFebruary 27\nMarch 27\nApril 10\nApril 17\n\nAudience\nThis learning community is intended for Minnesota State math faculty who are currently teaching or planning to teach a College Algebra course with corequisite. \nOutcomes\nAfter the community\, participants will be able to: \n\nDiscuss the purpose of corequisite support courses\nExplore effective strategies to align corequisites with college-level coursework\nIdentify evidence-based best practices for implementing corequisite support courses\nIdentify nonacademic services to support corequisite students\nShare examples\, resources\, experiences\, and suggestions for teaching the college algebra corequisite to enhance student learning\nFoster connections among faculty across the system to build a collaborative community for shared engagement\n\nCompensation\nThe Math Pathways grant will pay the first 20 Minnesota State mathematics faculty participants to register a stipend of $1250 (including fringe) for successful completion of the learning community in spring 2025. \nCourse Location \nIn addition to Zoom meetings\, this course is hosted and facilitated using the D2L Brightspace instance of Minnesota State called\, MnSite.  \nRegistration Required\nUse the RSVP tool below to register.
