SUMMARY:Creating Accessible Course Documents: Fall 2021 (3 week short course)
DESCRIPTION:October 25 – November 14\, 2021\nDescription \nThis three week short course provides faculty and staff and opportunity to practice making digital materials accessible to those who use a screen reader. The course will introduce participants to basic techniques for using tools available in the Microsoft Office suite including Word and PowerPoint.  Additionally\, participants will get an opportunity to update web pages posted to a D2L Brightspace course site using the provided HTML editor in D2L Brightspace. \nCourse Learning Objectives \nAfter completing the course\, participants will be able to:  \n\nDescribe the importance of having accessible course materials \nIdentify the degree of accessibility of current materials and technologies \nCreate or revise course documents to be accessible \nCreate or revise HTML course pages to be accessible \n\nTechnical Skill Requirements\n\n\n\n\nUse a web browser\nCreate\, save and upload Word documents\nNavigate Microsoft Windows\nCreate and send an email using your Minnesota State account\nEvaluate and decide whether or not to use OneDrive\nPerform basic tasks associated with the following D2L Brightspace tools: Content\, Quizzes and Assignments\n\n\n\n\n\nMaterials Required\nYou will need access to Microsoft Office suite including Word and PowerPoint.  \n\n\n\nSuggested Audience \nFaculty (Full-time and part-time)\, Instructional Designers and Technologists\, and Faculty Developers/Trainers.  \nEstimated Time Commitment \nMost participants are able to complete this course by committing 4-6 hours per week.  \nReflect on your Professional Development \nAs you progress through this course\, please consider how you can use the assignments as a way to highlight your work on your Professional Development Plan. Consider sharing your work with your leadership team.  \nRegistration Required\n*30 Participant Limit\nUse the RSVP tool below to register.
