SUMMARY:Navigating Classroom Dynamics: Comfort in Discomfort - Embracing Student and Instructor Experiences in the Classroom (Session Two)
DESCRIPTION:Navigating Classroom Dynamics: An Anti-Racist and Trauma-Informed Approach\nJoin the three-part webinar series designed to revolutionize classroom discussions by introducing an anti-racist and trauma-informed approach to conflicts. We recognize that students bring their entire selves to class\, encompassing bodies\, emotions\, and neuro-systems\, often carrying traumas resulting from microaggressions\, racism\, religious differences\, and various conflicts. Instructors play a pivotal role in addressing these behind-the-scenes issues to foster an inclusive learning space that supports all students\, including those who may be traumatized. \nSession Two\nDuring this webinar\, shift your perspective on the intersection of traumas and bodies in the classroom. While conversations often center on students\, we delve into the crucial recognition that instructors bring their own culturally learned and bodily experienced dynamics into the learning space. \nChallenge the notion of neutrality\, as we explore how pre-supposed ideas held by instructors can unintentionally discriminate against students with different experiences. This session introduces a feminist approach to embracing diverse bodies in the classroom\, shedding light on the pivotal roles of triggers and traumas. \nEngage in discussions on how to navigate constructive conversations that enhance the overall learning experience. Join us in redefining the dynamics within educational spaces\, fostering inclusivity\, and promoting a deeper understanding of the diverse perspectives that both students and instructors bring to the classroom. \nThis is part of a series\, register for each session separately: \n\nSession One\nSession Three\n\n\nRSVP Required\nUse the RSVP tool below to register. In addition to Minnesota State faculty and staff\, Concurrent Enrollment instructors are also welcome to join. \n\nAfter registering\, a calendar invite with details on how to join will be sent to you\, please add this event to your calendar. \nAccommodations: If you require accommodations (live captioning\, etc.) to participate in this event\, please send an email to the person at the bottom of this page. \n\nQuestions?\nContact facilitator Yalda Hamidi.
