SUMMARY:Using Pressbooks to Enhance OER Delivery (Summer 2025)
DESCRIPTION:May 27 – June 15\, 2025\nShort Course\nDescription\nPressbooks is an online platform designed to encourage self-publication under a Creative Commons license.  It is easy to use and provides a variety of options for including media such as images and videos.  This short course will introduce you to the platform\, walk you through creating a free account\, and provide you with tools and resources to help you start your own publication. By the end of the course\, you will have a Pressbooks account\, a title and placeholder for a publication\, and a chapter outline of your work. \nLearning objectives:\nParticipants will be able to: \n\nExplain how Pressbooks can be applied to a curricular or scholarship goal.   \n\n\nConsider 2-3 possible topics for publication in Pressbooks. \n\n\nIdentify options for including culturally responsive teaching practices and accessibility using Pressbooks. \n\n\nDemonstrate knowledge of the Pressbooks Dashboard through the design of a book shell with a title\, front matter\, part\, chapter\, and back matter. \n\n\nSuggested Audience \nFaculty (Full-time and part-time)\, Instructional Designers and Technologists\, Faculty Developers/Trainers\, and Concurrent Enrollment instructors. \nEstimated Time Commitment \nMost participants are able to complete this course by committing 4-6 hours per week. \nReflect on your Professional Development \nAs you progress through this course\, please consider how you can use the assignments as a way to highlight your work on your Professional Development Plan. Consider sharing your work with your leadership team.  \nCourse Location \nThis course is hosted and facilitated using shared D2L Brightspace instance of Minnesota State called\, MnSite.  \nRegistration Required\nUse the RSVP tool below to register.
