“Our students concentrate on hands-on training, so Goebel’s donation will provide them with the materials they need for normal exercises or for making special items,” said HTC Cabinetmaking Instructor Keith Hanstad, who has taught at the college for over 20 years. He noted that this is the largest donation of materials the cabinetmaking program has received. Goebel, which creates store fixtures for a variety of retailers, also recently donated $10,000 for the HTC program’s purchase of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinery.

“We have a lot of industry support,” said Hanstad, “and we’re grateful for what they help us accomplish.” With many workers in the cabinetmaking industry approaching retirement, industry leaders are interested in making sure the next generation of workers will be well trained and able to maintain high quality standards, Hanstad explained. Goebel employs a number of HTC graduates.
