The NED is planning an in-person Multi-Modal/HyFlex Teaching and Learning Training Opportunity in St. Paul from May 16 – 18, 2024 (3-day/2-night) and is requesting input to inform the training design and notify you when registration opens.

Why Multi-modal?
Multi-modal/HyFlex learning helps meet the needs of students, faculty, and campuses.
Students of Minnesota State have been looking for choice in modality and will continue to seek flexibility in customizing their learning experiences. Multi-modal/HyFlex design allows campuses to:
- Offer programs and courses that fit students’ complex lives, which include responsibilities like family and employment commitments
- Provide 24/7 access to additional learning resources online
- Promote technology skills that transfer into the workforce and
- Finally, students see multi-modal learning as an equity issue. Multi-modal/HyFlex design supports student choice and flexibility to take part in a program and earn an award.
Faculty, departments, and campuses are seeking ways to engage students in their programs. Multi-modal/HyFlex design supports campuses to:
- Increase access to registration in courses by removing location/time-based constraints
- Boost course and degree completion as it allows students to flex into the modality that their lives can support over the course of a semester
- Adopt responsive, innovative methods and content for workforce readiness, and
- Finally, many campuses see multi-modal learning as part of an enrollment strategy. Multi-modal/HyFlex design allows programs to attract new audiences.
