Effordability Summit: Proposal deadline extended

Minnesota State is a sponsor of the annual Effordability Summit held in person at University of Wisconsin-Stout, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, on April 7-8, 2025. Registration is free!

Minnesota State Academic and Student Affairs office invites faculty, staff, instructional designers, librarians, and others to join as a presenter, attendee, or both! Presenters can apply for travel support from the Minnesota State Educational Development and Technology unit, see below for details.

Call for Proposals 

The Call for Proposal deadline is February 24, 2025. (The deadline has been extended. Previously the deadline was January 25, 2025.)

This year’s event, themed “Moving Forward: Leveraging Technologies for Access and Affordability,” promises to be a milestone occasion, bringing together dedicated educators and professionals committed to enhancing course resources, and reducing student costs through open education and other innovative means.

The Effordability Summit encourages you to share your experiences and innovations related to adopting and advancing open educational resources, lowering educational costs, and enhancing the sustainability of open education programs. Topics may include OER adoption and creation, inclusive access programs, artificial intelligence, library initiatives, and adapting “non-standard” materials to replace traditional textbook.

Deadline is February 24, 2025

Travel Support

The Minnesota State Educational Development and Technology (EDT) unit will pay for up to (10) individuals’ travel to the Effordability Summit for Minnesota State employees who are presenting at the conference. Minnesota State faculty and staff whose proposal is accepted will be eligible to apply for travel support of up to $500 from EDT to attend the conference.

Faculty and staff are responsible for adhering to their campuses’ travel approval process. All submitted expenses must comply with the 2024 Commissioner’s Expense Reimbursement guidelines.

All presentations receiving travel support should acknowledge the support of Minnesota State Educational Development and Technology unit. Specifics of the acknowledgement will be provided upon awarding of travel support. 

Apply for travel support by March 14, 2025.

About the Conference 

The 7th annual Effordability Summit invites educational professionals to share their knowledge and expertise in improving course resources and reducing student costs through open education. This event serves as a platform to collaborate and create a more inclusive and cost-effective educational environment. Participants include students, faculty, technologists, librarians, media specialists, and administrators from K-12, two- and four-year colleges and universities, public libraries, and university stores.
