Description
Co-curricular assessment of student learning continues to be a hot topic in the higher education assessment and accreditation landscape. This 3-week course will provide participants with strategies and resources for implementing and strengthening co-curricular assessment in departments and functional areas with a unit-level focus. The course is intended for a broad audience of front-line practitioners, as well as Directors and other leaders in Student Affairs, Student Services and Enrollment Management. Participants will have opportunities to share institutional perspectives and examples and engage with exercises and tools to support customized approaches to the “why,” the “how,” and the “what” of accomplishing this important work.
Course Learning Objectives
- Describe the purpose/benefits of the co-curricular assessment process, including trends and current states in general (HLC) and at own institution.
- Explain what co-curricular means in the context of HLC, professional organizations, and to your institutions.
- Create co-curricular learning outcomes.
- Create a co-curricular assessment plan
Suggested Audience
Student Affairs Directors, Student Services Directors, Enrollment Management Directors, Staff and Faculty Co-Curricular Assessment leaders and champions, Assessment Committee Members, Accreditation Liaison Officers (ALOs).
Estimated Time Commitment
The course is designed to be 2-4 hours of work per week to complete.

This course is hosted and facilitated using shared D2L Brightspace instance of Minnesota State called, MnSite.
