Finding SoTL Opportunities in Everyday Teaching (Fall 2026)

NED: Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Many instructors believe they need a major classroom problem before conducting a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) study. In reality, some of the most valuable SoTL projects begin with small observations, surprises, and moments of curiosity.

This webinar helps participants learn how to recognize inquiry opportunities hidden within everyday teaching experiences. Through authentic classroom examples, participants will practice identifying potential SoTL topics from student behaviors, assessment results, engagement patterns, and instructional innovations.

Participants will leave with a collection of practical techniques for generating project ideas and a framework for deciding which teaching questions are worth pursuing through SoTL inquiry.
