Introduction and Demonstration of Hypothesis and Hypothesis/D2L integration
Writing in the margins has always been an essential activity for students. Annotation enhances reading comprehension and helps students think critically about course materials. Hypothesis digital annotation also empowers students to collaborate on understanding and developing ideas about their readings.
Dr. Dan Allosso, Assistant Professor of History, Bemidji State University and author of several OER textbooks will share his experience using Hypothesis. He will demonstrate how this cost-free web-based application of Hypothesis can be used with OER or any digital documents you may use in your courses and will answer questions you have about using this tool.
Loree Buchan, Partnerships Lead, Education from Hypothesis, will demonstrate Hypothesis as an integrated D2L tool and will answer questions about how this tool integrates with D2L and the costs associated with this application of the tool. BSU will be piloting the D2L integration this semester to assess whether the added value warrants the cost.
Hypothesis is open source annotation software that enables sentence-level note taking or critique of classroom reading, news, blogs, scientific articles, books, terms of service, ballot initiatives, legislation and more. Hypothesis is based on the annotation standards for digital documents developed by the W3C Web Annotation Working Group. It can be added as extension to your browser or integrated into your learning management system (LMS).
