Short Course
Description
This course will help you design instructional videos that support student learning. Using technology tools available to everyone in Minnesota State, you will create short, engaging, and accessible videos that build instructor presence and invite active learning. You will learn to align your video design with learning goals, apply effective production practices, and integrate equity and accessibility to support all students.

Course Learning Objectives
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Align instructional video design with learning theory.
- Integrate equity and accessibility practices in video-based learning.
- Apply effective production principles to an instructional video.
- Implement active learning with video technologies.
Technical Skill Requirements
- Use a web browser
- Perform basic tasks associated with Zoom, Kaltura MediaSpace, and D2L Brightspace.
Materials Required
Access to your Minnesota State Zoom and Kaltura MediaSpace accounts.
Participants should have access to their own D2L Brightspace course (sandbox or development are acceptable) to practice using the available course tools and features. Contact your campus D2L/IT Helpdesk to create a D2L Brightspace “Sample/Sandbox” Course if you do not have one.
Suggested Audience
Faculty, Instructional Designers and Technologists, Faculty Developers/Trainers, Concurrent Enrollment instructors, or any staff who uses video and wants to learn more.
Estimated Time Commitment
Most participants are able to complete this course by committing 4-6 hours per week.

Course Location
This course is hosted and facilitated using the D2L Brightspace instance of Minnesota State called, MnSite.
