Short Course

Description

Pressbooks is an online platform designed to encourage self-publication under a Creative Commons license. It is easy to use and provides a variety of options for including media such as images and videos. This short course will introduce you to the platform, walk you through creating a free account, and provide you with tools and resources to help you start your own publication. By the end of the course, you will have a Pressbooks account, a title and placeholder for a publication, and a chapter outline of your work.

Learning objectives:

Participants will be able to…

Explain how Pressbooks can be applied to an individual scholarship plan
Consider 2-3 possible topics for publication in Pressbooks
Identify options for including culturally responsive teaching practices and accessibility using the Pressbooks platform
Demonstrate knowledge of the Pressbooks Dashboard through the design of a book shell with a title, front matter, part, chapter, and back matter

Because we need time to enroll participants into the corresponding D2L Brightspace Course site, we will close RSVPs the Friday prior to the start of this course.
