The annual joint Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) and Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) Conference will be held at the St. Paul Event Center and the Minnesota State system office. Pre-Conference meetings for select affinity groups are taking place on June 25, 2024. The main conference is two (2) days spanning June 26-27, 2024.

This event is in-person only and the conference planning team is exploring hybrid options.

Building Resilient Institutions: Adapting to Changes in Higher Education and Minnesota State 

This year’s conference is not just about addressing challenges in higher education; it’s about embracing opportunities and paving the way for a resilient future for Minnesota State. Thought leaders and visionaries will share insights on how the strategic priorities at Minnesota State will empower us all to adapt, innovate, and thrive in the ever-changing educational landscape.

Call For Proposals (CFP)

Minnesota State Equity 2030

The conference planning team is pleased to extend an invitation to submit session proposals for concurrent sessions, with a focus on (but not limited to) three of the dimensions of Equity 2030:

  • Enhanced Access
  • Academic Success
  • Student Engagement

Enhanced Access to a higher education by strengthening partnerships and collaboration with K-12, business and industry, community-based organizations, and philanthropic partners to expand and grow current programming and identify new ways to support students. Examples include:

  • Community engagement and partnerships for change
  • Reckoning with our institutional histories and being accountable to the Indigenous communities of Minnesota today
  • Career and Technical Education
  • Collaboration (K-12, business, community-based and philanthropic partnerships)
  • Nontraditional access points (e.g. prison education programs)
  • Strategic Enrollment Management planning
  • Bridge programs
  • Targeted outreach initiatives

Academic Success by establishing guided learning pathways that focus on academic preparation, progression, and accomplishment within an area of study and career. Examples include:

  • Minnesota State Guided Learning Pathways
  • Equity by Design
  • Equity Scorecard
  • Technology and educational change
  • Culturally responsive and inclusive curriculum and pedagogy
  • Diverse perspectives in change leadership
  • Equity in resource allocation
  • Program Review through an equity lens
  • Support and trainings to faculty and leadership to increase student success

Student Engagement within the institution, both academic and non-academic, including supporting basic needs. Examples include:

  • Students’ basic needs
  • Campus climate (belonging, inclusion, safety)
  • Holistic student support
  • Incorporating student voices in change for inclusive governance and decision-making
  • Intersectionality and navigating multiple identities
  • Cultivating inclusive spaces
  • Empathy and embodiment
  • Using the onboarding process to create culture change
  • Bias incident response
  • Enhanced orientation processes
  • Culturally responsive centers and programming

CFP Submission Guidelines

Submit session proposals to tarnjeet.kang@minnstate.edu no later than Wednesday April 17, 2024. Proposals selected for a session will be notified no later than Wednesday May 1, 2024. Presenters must be available to present in-person, for concurrent sessions lasting between 45-60 minutes. Each session will have 2-3 presentations, and allocated time for Q&A.

Session proposals should include:

  • Presentation title
  • Which Equity 2030 dimension the proposal falls under (Enhanced Access, Academic Success, Student Engagement)
  • Name, title and institutions for all presenters
  • Any accommodations requested for presenters
  • 100 word abstract summarizing the topic and learning objective of the presentation
