Network for Educational Development (NED) Short Course

Join the three-week short course “Inclusive Video Conferencing” offered through the NED to learn practical strategies to create equitable and engaging video conferencing classes or meetings. Participants will experience and practice how to model and maintain equitable and accessible spaces in video conference environments like Zoom or Teams Meetings.

The course will be hosted in D2L Brightspace, and participants must also join at least two of three available synchronous Zoom meetings to complete the course.

Zoom meeting date/times (CST):

  • Thursday, November 7, 12 – 1 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 14, 12 – 1 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 19, 12 – 1 p.m.

Learning Objectives

  1. Reflect on the experience of participating in inclusive video conferences.  
  2. Adopt video conference facilitation techniques that support inclusive teaching methods. 
  3. Practice strategies for maintaining equitable learning spaces during video conferencing sessions. 
  4. Apply strategies to support accessible video conferencing sessions.

Audience

Any Minnesota State employee or concurrent enrollment instructor who hosts meetings or classes through video conferencing will benefit from this course. Suggested audiences include, but are not limited to, full-time and part-time faculty, instructional designers and technologists, faculty developers and trainers, and concurrent enrollment instructors.
