Conversations with Colleagues: Promoting Equity through Data Practices

Conversations with Colleagues is a series for colleagues across Minnesota State to gather remotely to share ideas and bring questions (along with your lunch). These gatherings are held at noon on the 4th Tuesday of every other month.

October Conversation Topic: Promoting Equity through Data Practices

October 29, 2024 at 12:00 p.m.

Hosts: Susan Parry, Hennepin Technical College and Martin Springborg, Dakota County Technical College

In FY25, the Educational Development Committee is focusing on the theme “Promoting Equity through Data Practices.” After viewing a short video “Education gap: The root of inequality” we will connect the video’s themes with the Minnesota State Equity 2030 goal.

Our conversation will be guided by questions such as:

  • In light of equity gap data, what are we doing to change our practices?
  • What are specific examples from your campus? What changes have you seen in admissions and teaching practices?
  • What’s working well? What isn’t? What barriers are you seeing to student retention and success?
  • How do we best support faculty in this work?
