Use headings to organize content

Use heading styles to organize your content structure in documents and web pages. Do not skip heading levels (h1, h2, h3, h4, etc.).

Make sure headings are short, specific, and clear.

Why?

Headings can provide quick navigation to the desired area on the page or document. Using heading styles help individuals who use a screen reader, and it is beneficial to everyone.

How?

Word and PowerPoint

  1. Select text
  2. Choose the Home tab in the ribbon
  3. In the Styles box, select the heading style you want

The D2L Brightspace toolbar includes an option to apply headings to your text.
