Avoid inserting text boxes into slides

Make sure that all readers have access to the text in your PowerPoint slides by using content placeholders instead of text boxes.

To check if this was done correctly, open Outline View under the View tab and ensure that all text is displayed in this pane.

Use slide layouts instead

Instead of inserting a textbox, use slide layouts that come with a variety of content placeholders.

You can select a slide layout while creating a new slide by either clicking the small arrow or the text “New Slide” right below the icon. A menu will drop down with all the available slide layouts. Select one of these options to create a new slide with this layout.

Alternatively you can select Layout from the ribbon’s Home tab or right click on an existing slide and select Layout.
