Centering Student Success with Intentional Assessment and Accreditation Practices

Registration is now open for the 7th Annual Minnesota State Accreditation and Assessment Conference. This conference is a collaboration with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) which provides an annual update regarding HLC policies, procedures, and resources including additional workshops of interest and value to Minnesota State Accreditation Liaison Officers (ALOs).

Winona State University
Lead Senior Scholar for Assessment and Student Success for the Higher Learning Commission

For the past ten years, Susan Hatfield has served as the Lead Senior Scholar for Assessment and Student Success at the Higher Learning Commission. Prior to that, she taught at Winona State University from 1981until her retirement in 2015. At Winona State she taught in the Communication Studies department, served for nine years as chairperson of that department, and served for 14 years as Winona State’s Assessment Coordinator. 

She has served on the Board of Directors of the Joint Review Commission on Education in Radiologic Technology and was appointed by the US Secretary of Navy to serve on the Marine Corps University Board of Visitors.  She is currently a Trustee of the Palmer College of Chiropractic.   

Susan completed her undergraduate degree and Master’s degree in Organizational Communication from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  She earned her doctorate in Communication Theory from the University of Minnesota.
