Open Innovation, Collaboration, and Transformation

Submit a Proposal

Share your expertise, experience, and outcomes at the 2026 Minnesota State Open Education Conference, a systemwide event dedicated to growing the use of open educational resources (OER) and open educational practices. Submit a proposal by the end of day February 6, 2026.

Format 

All sessions will be: 

  • Virtual, live, and recorded for later viewing 
  • Either 20 minutes or 50 minutes in duration, depending on format and session requirements
  • As interactive as possible to increase audience engagement 
  • Compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements 

Proposal Components: 

  • Title and mini-abstract (25 words) for inclusion in the conference program
  • Session type (panel, presentation, workshop, discussion) 
  • Session outcomes 
  • 100-200 word description of proposed session 
  • Plan for audience engagement 

Suggested Topics 

  • Course markings and transparency 
  • Library resources and support 
  • Discipline-specific topics 
  • Copyright and licensing 
  • Open Pedagogy 
  • Defining zero-cost course materials 
  • Innovations and partnerships 
  • Student engagement and advocacy 

Accessibility & Inclusion 

Minnesota State is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible experience. Presentations should follow WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, use clear language, and include alternative text for images. Live sessions will feature captioning. 

About the Conference

Join colleagues from across Minnesota State for a two-day virtual conference focused on OER and innovative practices in open education within the system.

Engage in sessions on key topics, including:

  • Discipline-specific presentations and panels
  • Copyright
  • Understanding zero-cost course materials
  • Open pedagogy and artificial intelligence

Audience

The audience for this conference is Minnesota State faculty, librarians, instructional designers, administrators, and other education professionals committed to promoting affordability and equitable learning. We particularly invite student participation and voices, both in our audience and as part of conference sessions.
