Minnesota State receives grant to measure student response to OER on campus

Minnesota State is a recipient of the Student Success Through OER Rubric Grant from the Driving OER Sustainability for Student Success (DOERS) Advancing OER for All Working Group. Minnesota State is one of six institutions and/or systems awarded.

The grant supports institutions and systems that are advancing evidence-based, student-centered approaches to open education. Minnesota State will use the Student Success Through OER Rubric to examine gaps, strengthen OER strategy, and align open education initiatives with student success goals.

Four Minnesota State colleges and universities will participate in this project.

About the Student Success Through OER Rubric

The Rubric is a comprehensive self-assessment tool designed to guide administrators, instructors, staff, and students in evaluating the current state of OER practice at their system or institution. Each of the dimensions targets specific areas that can remove barriers and enhance opportunities for student success.

By using the rubric, stakeholders can reflect on strengths, identify areas for growth, and track progress over time. It is intended to provide a structured framework for internal reflection, planning, and continuous improvement, by helping institutions align their OER initiatives with their mission, resources, and student needs. We believe that all higher education stakeholders have roles to play in advancing these goals. Learn more and view the rubric on the DOERS website.

About DOERS

The DOERS Collaborative is a group of higher education systems and statewide/provincewide initiatives that are committed to supporting student success by promoting free, customizable open educational resources (OER). Launched in 2018, DOERS helps member organizations implement, scale, and sustain OER by advancing research and policy, sharing tools and learnings, and showing how OER can foster student success.
