CEMRS Wave 1 Institutions Selected

Here’s an update from Steve Hawrysh, project manager for implementation of the Classroom, Event Management and Resource Scheduling software. He notes that Bemidji State University is a current CEMRS user, and will act as a pilot site for future conversion by the other CEMRS users (MSU Moorhead, St. Cloud State, Winona State). Wave 1 is targeted for Fall 2012 implementation, with Wave 2 (another 15 or so institutions) slated for Spring 2013.

We have selected the 5 colleges/universities to participate in the 1st wave implementation of EMS Campus. The 5 colleges/universities are:

  • Bemidji State University
  • Minneapolis Community and Technical College
  • Northwest Technical College
  • Rochester Community and Technical College
  • South Central College

It was a tough decision to narrow it to 5 and the group struggled to pare down the selection.  I appreciate all the interest in participating in the first wave and wish we could have taken on more. For the colleges/universities not selected I expect to have them be part of the 2nd wave implementation. Depending on what we learn from the 1st wave, the plan will be to get them started as early as the end of June/early July.

The next steps will be to work with the 1st wave colleges/universities to start the project planning and data gathering phases of implementation. We will identify the scope of the implementation, including key stakeholders and what will be included and not included for implementation.

A kickoff meeting will be held the week of May 14th  for all 1st wave schools. This will be followed up with an individual kickoff meeting for each school. I plan to have those meetings before the end of the month.

I want to thank Lana Feddema, Shelly McCauley-Jugovich, Karen Bergmeier, Jill Haluska, Mindy Bainbridge for their help in making the selection.

I am excited about reaching this milestone and taking the next step to implementing EMS Campus across the MnSCU system.
