Legislative Update – 1-25-13

Yesterday at the Capitol

On the Senate floor yesterday, members confirmed the appointment of Director Larry Pogemiller with the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. Later in the day, Director Pogemiller testified in front of the Senate Higher Education and Workforce Development committee about the role of the Office of Higher Education and higher education overall in the state of Minnesota. Pogemiller will be before the committee next Thursday to discuss the Minnesota State Grant Program more in-depth with committee members.

Next week, the House Higher Education Finance and Policy committee will begin meeting. The University of Minnesota is scheduled to provide a financial overview for committee members on Monday and Wednesday. The committee will take a detailed look at the finances of both the University of Minnesota and MnSCU over the next few weeks.

Today at the Capitol

There are no hearings scheduled for today; however, legislative leaders will hold media availabilities at 10:30 a.m. in room 125 of the State Capitol to discuss legislative developments from this week and look ahead to next week.
