I am pleased to announce that effective Aug. 14, Valerie DeFor will serve as the interim executive director for HealthForce Minnesota. DeFor earned her master’s degree in healthcare administration from Arizona State University in Tempe and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from St. Olaf College. Since 2001, DeFor has worked statewide with healthcare providers, state agencies and higher education partners leading a variety of initiatives for the MnSCU system. She is an experienced leader who is committed to partnerships and has strong relationships from her work with the HealthCare Education Partnership Council. I have full confidence that she will effectively lead HealthForce Minnesota.
WSU has hosted HealthForce Minnesota, a MnSCU Center of Excellence, since October 2005. Jane Foote has served as the executive director since 2007. This fall, Foote will join our graduate nursing department in Rochester as an associate professor of nursing. Please join me in thanking Jane for her successful efforts to develop and lead HealthForce Minnesota.
