Dear Chief Academic Officers,
We are seeking a few experienced academic leaders to serve as “final reviewers” of an online orientation program being developed for new academic deans. Since it will be online you will be able to do this from any location and at any time. Overall it should take less than four hours to review and provide feedback on the entire course.
Academic and Student Affairs is partnering with the Talent Management team in our HR Division to design and develop a short asynchronous e-learning course to be a part of the onboarding and training provided for new and interim academic deans in our system. The course is designed to supplement the current training offered to all new and interim administrators in our system. The course will focus on introducing new academic deans to crucial information they will need in their first six months in their new role but it will also be available for you to use in other training settings.
This specific course focuses on the critical topics that new deans must be prepared for in their first six months on the job and includes the following 5 units delivered in D2L. Each unit will contain audio and video from current deans and interactive learning tasks. The entire course should take between 2 and 4 hours to complete. The topics are:
- Unit 1 – Define the expectations and accountability of an academic dean at MnSCU.
- Unit 2 – Introduction to administering faculty contracts.
- Unit 3 – Preparing to conduct faculty reviews.
- Unit 4 – Understand the faculty recruitment and hiring process.
- Unit 5 – Overview of work assignment and workload process
A small group of college and university deans have been serving as subject matter experts in identifying the curriculum and reviewing it in early stages.
In order to successfully complete the project, I would like the final content thoroughly reviewed by a few academic leaders to make sure it supports the success of our new and interim academic deans
If you are interested in serving as a final reviewer or if you have any questions about the project, the course or the final review, please contact Todd Thorsgaard at 651-201-1852 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
