Lumina Foundation Credit When It’s Due Grant Able to Potentially Award
392 Associate in Arts Degrees
After reviewing 2,470 student records, Credit When It’s Due staff has found 392 students are eligible to have an Associate in Arts degree conferred by either the college or university they attended.
The project began in April 2013 and will continue through March 2015. Staff will audit an additional 9,000 prospects during that time and anticipate hundreds of additional students will be eligible to earn an Associate in Arts degree.
The Lumina funded Credit When It’s Due project aims to promote degree completion rates for early transfer students. Through a process known as reverse transfer, students who have attended a MnSCU college prior to attending a MnSCU university, transfer credits back their initial college for the purpose of earning an associate degree.
The Credit When It’s Due project is designed to provide MnSCU colleges and universities with pre-analyzed lists of students who appear to be eligible for Associate in Arts degrees. The candidate pool includes approximately 11,800 students who earned a minimum of 12 credits at a MnSCU college before transferring to a MnSCU university during fall 2008-2012.
Credit When It’s Due staff has completed the degree auditing process for approximately 20% of all the prospect records. Staff will be working with system colleges and universities to articulate the appropriate coursework and contact students to confirm they would like to have the Associate in Arts degree conferred.
