An additional summit is being hosted in Marshall, MN on Jan. 15th at Southwest Minnesota State University.
The purpose of these summits is designed to create facilitated dialogue between secondary education and postsecondary education professionals to deepen our common understandings of newly-enacted legislation and to explore opportunities for new or expanded partnerships between local districts and our colleges and universities. Ultimately, expanded partnerships will better prepare the continuum of learners to be college-ready and to expand opportunities for college ready students in high school to participate in rigorous college level courses or equivalent experiences. We urge you to design and register a team from your college or university to participate in one of these summits. Suggested team members include: presidents, chief cademic and student affairs officers, PSEO/ concurrent coordinators, Perkins consortium leaders, local faculty leadership, and registrars. Campus teams can send teams up to eight members.
These summits will provide participants with:
- A showcase of the multiple models in our state for offering early college options
leveraging Career and Technical Education (CTE), Advanced Placement (AP),
International Baccalaureate (IB) Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) and
- An overview of collaborative models between local secondary school districts and our
colleges and universities to promote college readiness by identifying students needing
additional foundational skills and providing them targeted remediation in high school;
- A greater understanding of regional labor market needs; and,
- Facilitated time for local school districts to meet with their local colleges and
universities to explore, design and customize opportunities to expand their program
offerings to a wider range of students based on their local needs.
