Yesterday at the Capitol
It was relatively quiet in higher education yesterday, with neither the Senate nor House higher education committee meeting. However, lawmakers were busy yesterday approving the second bill to make it to Governor Mark Dayton’s desk. The House unanimously passed a $17 million disaster relief bill yesterday that will help 47 Minnesota counties and three American Indian reservations that suffered flood related damage last June. The Senate acted on the bill last week. Most of the counties that qualified for federal assistance will see 75 percent of their costs covered by the federal government. The State will cover the remaining 25 percent through this legislation. The Governor is expected to sign the bill.
