Finance and Budget
The fiscal backdrop for deans can often be confusing and certainly is complex. While MnSCU institutions take their own unique approaches to academic and financial planning, there are many common aspects that need to be understood and advanced by deans regardless of your college or university. This session will cover foundational aspects such as the MnSCU allocation framework, campus approaches to budget allocation, and the associated impact of enrollment and compensation on the financial planning of institutions. The presenting chief financial officers will not only share their knowledge of these foundational aspects but also relate it to the many variables associated with academic planning such as class sizes and course fill rates, program review, faculty load, and other programmatic decisions.
