The Legislative Report on Degree Credit Caps 2014 is posted for information.
The report summarizes the system program credit length reduction and waiver application activities completed by system colleges and universities during the past academic year. Over the past several years, the credit lengths of associate and baccalaureate programs have been reduced dramatically.
During the 2013-2014 academic year, waivers were requested for 252 associate degree programs. Seven waivers were approved for the Minnesota Alliance for Nursing Education (MANE) associate of science nursing programs and 168 waivers were approved for associate of applied science degree programs. The remaining 95 AAS programs that exceed the 60 credit cap but have not yet received a waiver are under review. This final process is expected to be completed within the current academic year.
