Governor Walz announces bonding proposal

Governor Tim Walz and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan announced the Governor’s capital investment proposal at Fort Snelling earlier today. Walz is proposing $1.27 billion to invest in community infrastructure projects across the state. Included in the proposal is $150 million for Minnesota State colleges and universities for higher education asset preservation and replacement, or HEAPR. HEAPR funds are used to maximize and extend the life of Minnesota State buildings.

Strengthening the Manufacturing Workforce

Last week Saint Paul College hosted a panel conversation sponsored by Minnesota Precision​ Manufacturing Association with the focus on Strengthening the Manufacturing Workforce. Panelists included Rep. Tim Mahoney, DFL-St Paul, Chair House Jobs Committee, Senator Carla Nelson, R-Rochester, Chair Senate Education Committee, and Saint Paul College President Rassoul Dastmozd.

Minnesota Precision Manufacturing Association is committed to strengthening the skilled workforce and drive success in precision manufacturing and promoting a positive image and the importance of manufacturing today. Approximately 50 business and industry leaders attended this panel conversation. Participants had the opportunity to tour Saint Paul College to learn more about the career and technical education programs offered, including: Automotive Service Technician, Cabinetmaking, Carpentry, CNC Toolmaking, Electrical Technology, Electromechanical Systems, Machine Operator – Right Skills Now for Manufacturing, Plumbing, Robotic Welding, Sheet Metal / HVAC Ducts and Fittings, Truck Technician, and Welding.
