2019 Special Session Adjourns

At 6:57 a.m. today, the 2019 Special Session of the Minnesota Legislature adjourned following passage of the remaining budget and finance bills. The entire special session lasted about 21 hours. The following bills were passed by the legislature during the special session: 

  •         Taxes
  •         E-12 Education
  •         Health and Human Services
  •         Environment & Natural Resources
  •         Public Safety & Judiciary
  •         Jobs & Energy
  •         Transportation
  •         Agriculture & Housing
  •         State Government Finance & Veterans
  •         Legacy
  •         Pensions

A $500 million Capital Investment bill, as previously agreed upon by the top three leaders at the Capitol, did not come up for consideration. These bills now head to Governor Walz’s desk for his signature. The new two-year state budget takes effect on July 1, 2019.
A complete legislative summary will be compiled and shared later next week. The legislature is not scheduled to reconvene until Tuesday, February 11, 2020 for next year’s legislative session.
