Understanding and Responding to Mass Incarceration (URMI) returns Friday, April 14, 2023, with the theme of Youth Justice: Changing the Narrative.

This free, day-long conference at Metro State University’s Saint Paul campus will examine the specific challenges faced by youth in the criminal legal system or at risk of involvement in it.

Topics will include historical and personal trauma, the school-to-prison pipeline, and prosecution of youth as adults, as well as options for response such as community prevention, restorative practices, mentorship, and alternatives to incarceration.

The annual URMI conference – now in its tenth year – is free and all are welcome to participate. Registration opening soon!
