Supporting New Americans on Campus: Ask C-PLAN Webinar

Ask C-PLAN: How to Support New Americans on Campus

June 20, 2024

2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

How can we best support new American students in higher education? C-PLAN invites you to discuss this challenging topic together while hearing from community career experts from the International Institute of Minnesota.

Brooke Anttila-Escoto is the program manager of Medical Career Advancement and Ollie Schiefelbein is the navigator of Internationally Trained Professionals. Brooke and Ollie work with internationally trained healthcare professionals as they re-license in their field or pursue an alternate medical career. Brooke and Ollie will share some of the best practices and pitfalls they have observed in higher education across the state as institutions strive to meet needs and provide a supportive learning environment for new American students.

Learn how higher education can make Minnesota more welcoming for these healthcare professionals, especially through using relevant course-based placement and credit for prior learning.

The webinar will run from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with 30 minutes set aside afterwards for discussion. Ask C-PLAN webinars are recorded and hosted on the C-PLAN MediaSpace channel for future review.
