Remove unnecessary content

Review your digital materials and remove content that will not be used going forward.

Why?

Cleaning up outdated content is a foundational step in any accessibility or content‑management effort. It ensures you aren’t investing time and energy improving materials that no longer serve a purpose.

A smaller, more accurate digital footprint also makes it easier to understand the true accessibility status of what you do need to maintain.

How?

Remove

Go through the digital materials you share with others, which includes resources on websites, within learning management systems, and shared folders and documents.

Delete items that are outdated, unused, or unnecessary.

Archive

For materials you no longer want to share publicly but need to keep for historical or internal reference, check whether your campus or department provides a shared archive location.

Download items from public or shared areas, remove them from those spaces, and upload them to the designated internal archive.

Digital Accessibility Tips

Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act: All Minnesota State employee electronic documents and course materials must adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards by April 24, 2026. These guidelines provide a comprehensive framework to ensure that content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users.
