Build Your RAFT: AI Prompt Engineering for Educators

Ready to explore how AI prompt engineering can enhance teaching and learning? In this interactive session, we’ll introduce RAFT, a flexible prompt engineering framework that supports thoughtful engagement with AI. You’ll learn how to craft more effective prompts, understand what AI agents are (and aren’t) good for, and explore how to use them as thought partners in curriculum development, feedback generation, student support, and beyond. Whether you’re just beginning to “build your raft” or ready for “whitewater rafting”, you’ll leave with practical strategies to elevate your AI fluency and apply it meaningfully in your academic practice.

Participants will:
- Define RAFT elements: Role, Audience, Format, and Topic
- Review existing AI prompt engineering frameworks, highlighting RAFT
