Classroom Reflection to Classroom Inquiry (Fall 2024)

Short Course
Description
This course is an introduction to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) that will help participants establish a basis for turning reflection into SoTL inquiry. Module 1 provides an overview of SoTL, including its history and process. Module 2 integrates participants’ reflection on teaching and learning into the process of doing SoTL and explores existing literature around an inquiry theme. Module 3 narrows the inquiry theme to questions and provides the groundwork for SoTL project development.
Course Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify problems of teaching or opportunities for SoTL inquiry.
- Engage in the SoTL process.
- Write SoTL research questions.
- Create a plan to pursue a SoTL project.
Course Location
This course is hosted and facilitated using the D2L Brightspace instance of Minnesota State called, MnSite.
