Creating Instructional Materials with AI: From Static Artifacts to Interactive Agents (Summer 2026)

July 15 @ 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM
Free
NED: Academic Technologies

This is part of a 2026 webinar series on Teaching with AI. Register for the full series.

This 75 minute workshop is divided into two halves. In the first half, participants learn to prompt for the creation of traditional materials (e.g., study guides, case studies, or rubrics). In the second half, these materials are transformed into a dynamic knowledge base for a Microsoft 365 Copilot agent. This transition allows faculty to create interactive “learning coaches” that are grounded in their specific course content, ensuring that AI serves as an extension of the instructor’s pedagogical intent.

Outcomes

  • Prompt for Production: Utilize Microsoft 365 Copilot to generate traditional instructional materials.
  • Construct a Knowledge Base: Upload generated instructional artifacts into the Copilot agent builder to serve as a grounded, cited source of information for student queries.
  • Configure Interactive Instructions: Define specific “Instructional Personas” (e.g., a Socratic tutor) for their AI agents to facilitate “Productive Struggle” and active student engagement.

Accommodations

The NED is committed to providing universal access to all of our events, we’d like to discover how we can make the event more inclusive so you can fully participate!

Machine generated captions are available in real-time for all Zoom events, however human generated CART (live caption) service and ASL interpretation can be requested with advanced notice (2 weeks) to make the event more accessible.

Please, let us know of any disability-related accommodations that will facilitate your full participation.
