Culturally Responsive Pedagogy/Trauma Responsive Pedagogy (Fall 2026)

September 28 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Free
NED: Academic Equity

Both Culturally Responsive Practices (CRP) and Trauma Responsive Practices (TRP) can offer us insight and support as we shift to bring students quality and compassionate education. Both CRP and TRP understand that when we are traumatized, marginalized or overwhelmed, our learning capacity is severely compromised. Further, both advocate that we intentionally and explicitly build safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment into our relationships with students in order to ensure their success.

In this webinar, we’ll have the opportunity to examine the overlaps between CRP and TRP and collectively explore how we might bring our current practices more closely into alignment with the best practices they advocate. Know too that this work will help sustain us as we find our own way through our own challenges. Indeed, if we take it on, we (our students, our institutions, and ourselves) will emerge stronger on the other side.

Accommodations

The NED is committed to providing universal access to all of our events, we’d like to discover how we can make the event more inclusive so you can fully participate!

Machine generated captions are available in real-time for all Zoom events, however human generated CART (live caption) service and ASL interpretation can be requested with advanced notice (2 weeks) to make the event more accessible.

Please, let us know of any disability-related accommodations that will facilitate your full participation.
