Empowering Students Through Assessment Practices in Higher Education (Fall 2026)

November 16 @ 2:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Assessment has the power to do much more than measure student performance. When designed intentionally, it can foster motivation, build confidence, promote equity, and support deeper learning. This engaging webinar explores how faculty and higher education professionals can transform assessment from a tool of evaluation into a catalyst for student success.

We will examine evidence-based assessment practices that empower students to take ownership of their learning, develop self-awareness, and demonstrate growth over time. Topics include authentic assessment, formative feedback, self-assessment, reflective learning, and equitable grading strategies that support diverse learners. The session will also highlight practical approaches for creating transparent expectations, increasing student agency, and incorporating multiple pathways for students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.

We will discuss how to design assessments that promote engagement, belonging, and academic achievement. The webinar will also explore the role of technology and learning analytics in providing meaningful feedback and supporting student progress. This gathering will provide practical tools for creating assessment experiences that encourage learning, resilience, and continuous improvement.
