Introduction to Open Pedagogy (Fall 2026)

Open pedagogy builds on the foundations of open educational resources (OER) by inviting students to actively create, adapt, and share knowledge. In this introductory session, we’ll explore how faculty can engage students as contributors and collaborators through authentic learning experiences. We’ll share examples of open pedagogy in practice, discuss how OER and Pressbooks (an open publishing platform) can support student-created content, and highlight practical strategies for getting started with open practices in your courses.
- Define open pedagogy and explain its connection to OER.
- Recognize examples of open pedagogical practices in higher education.
- Identify opportunities to incorporate open pedagogy, OER, or Pressbooks into your courses.
