Navigating the IRB Application and Informed Consent Forms: Insights and Tips from an IRB Chair

Focused on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research, this webinar offers practical, insider guidance from a current IRB chair. We’ll break down the IRB application step by step, providing tips to streamline the process, avoid common pitfalls, and understand the purpose behind each required component.
You’ll also learn how to design an informed consent form that not only meets ethical standards but is clear and accessible to participants. We’ll focus on the context of the application and consent form—why the questions and components exist—so you can approach the process with greater clarity and confidence.
With time, we’ll explore newer considerations for student populations, such as addressing neurodiversity in informed consent forms. We will save time for Q and A, as well as share resources to help with future IRB applications.
This webinar is supplemental to the NED short course: Classroom Inquiry and IRB (Feb 17–Mar 9).
