The Network for Educational Development (NED) provides educational development opportunities that are designed by Minnesota State faculty and staff for Minnesota State faculty and staff. These opportunities help build awareness, develop knowledge, skills, and abilities, and provide space for reflecting and revising.

Megan Jaunich
Engineering instructor at Century College

Also an advisor for the Women in STEM Club and Engineering Club, Megan’s professional development activities have focused on increasing transparency and accessibility of her courses to support student success. This includes incorporating Open Educational Resources, aligning courses with Quality Matters standards, and striving for continuous improvement using the Havard Data Wise model.

Megan will share lessons learned from adopting an Open Educational Resources engineering text while simultaneously pursuing Quality Matters certification for the associated course.


Maria Kalyvaki
Assistant Professor of Marketing at Minnesota State University, Mankato

Incorporating technologies like XR and AI, Maria introduces contemporary methods to support students across different academic levels, integrating conventional and modern techniques. A central pillar of her teaching ethos is her dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring a balance between academic insights and hands-on relevance. Dr. Kalyvaki continually demonstrates her commitment to enhancing student learning and development.

Kassy and Katie will share their ancillary OER podcast project: “Lit Crit on a Stick.” The Project is an ancillary material covering critical theory and practice in the form of a podcast. It’s meant to supplement any literature class with accessible and short audio episodes about 12 of the major critical schools and provide examples of living criticism on a variety of texts


Open Educational Resource (OER) Community Conversations are open forum conversations for all to share, discuss, and learn from colleagues in the Minnesota State OER community. Hosted by Karen Pikula, the OER Faculty Development Coordinator, these conversations are virtual, hour-long meetings held twice per semester and feature a guest speaker on a topic of interest.
