OER Community Conversations: December

Description

Gwen Oster started her career as an electrical apprentice with IBEW Local 292. She has taught electrical construction and maintenance for 25 years, beginning at Dunwoody College. Her family moved to Bemidji in 2004 where she helped build a two-year electrical program at Northwest Technical College (NTC).

Gwen is a lifelong learner, recently taking a course in Adobe Illustrator to create content for the electrical program at NTC. She has found this work equally exciting and time-consuming and will share how the program implements it into its courses.

Gwen and her husband are currently empty nesters and live on the Mississippi River outside of Bemidji. They have three adult children, the youngest is a sophomore in college.

Open Educational Resource (OER) Community Conversations are open forum conversations for all to share, discuss, and learn from colleagues in the Minnesota State OER community. Hosted by Karen Pikula, the OER Faculty Development Coordinator, these conversations are virtual, hour-long meetings held twice per semester and feature a guest speaker on a topic of interest.
