The NED was established to provide educational development opportunities that are designed by Minnesota State faculty and staff for Minnesota State faculty and staff. These opportunities help build awareness, develop knowledge, skills, and abilities, and provide space for reflecting and revising.

Minnesota State Office of Equity and Inclusion, Minnesota State Educational Innovations, and Minneapolis College present Out from the Shadows Workshop Series.
Out from the Shadows of Minneapolis: Power, Pride, and Perseverance at a Northern Community College is an open anthology of stories and memoirs written by students, staff, and faculty from Minneapolis College. They detail the struggles and perseverance of underrepresented communities.
The Workshop
Administrators are invited to attend the first in a four part professional development series inspired by Out from the Shadows, an anthology released at the Spring Academic and Student Affairs Equity and Inclusion Leadership Conference. Each online workshop is standalone and will focus on a different theme based around one or more stories from the anthology.
October 4th Theme: Homelessness
This workshop will feature:
- Student writers sharing their stories of power, pride, and perseverance
- Group discussions
- Expert-led strategies addressing homelessness
