New Policy on Transfer Rights and Responsibilities

A new policy on Transfer Rights and Responsibilities was adopted by the Board of Trustees at their meeting on May 17, and is now posted on the Board policy website at http://www.mnscu.edu/board/policy/339.html.  The establishment of a transfer student bill of rights to specify the treatment that transfer students may expect during their transition is cited in the transfer literature as being a “promising practice” to further effective transfer of credit.  This policy balances the concept of student rights by articulating the expectation that students who plan to transfer also have the responsibility to take certain actions to facilitate their academic progress in transferring.  The policy also states expectations for college and university actions to facilitate student transfer of credit.
