Classroom, Event Management, and Resource Scheduling (CEMRS) July Update
We are getting closer to having all colleges/universities in production for EMS. To date we have about 27 of the 37 EMS databases in production, with the plan to have all done by October. There is light at the end of the tunnel for the project (and it’s not a train coming at us).
The final 10 colleges are well into training. Three have moved to production, with 2 to 3 more planning to go to production before the freeze. The remainder will move after the freeze. Overall the final group is going well.
Systemwide reporting continues to make progress. Initial reports have been developed and are being reviewed and modified as the system office facilities staff gets more familiar with the data and capabilities of EMS. Over the next few months expect to start seeing some important reporting on room utilization across the MnSCU system.
The scheduler’s consortium continues to meet on a regular basis. The group is sharing experience with EMS and helping each other out with questions and concerns. It is exciting to see this group evolve into a self-supporting systemwide team to get the most out of EMS.
Plans are underway for a project celebration. A date and place have already been selected: Tuesday, October 29th at the Quarry Center in Waite Park. Look for more details soon.
